Course Details

The Manual Handling Operations Regulations 1992 (amended 2002) requires employers to undertake Manual Handling risk assessments. Under these regulations, Manual Handling training should be provided for all staff. Back problems account for a third all of worker absences in the UK.

Course Syllabus

The following range of subjects are covered in this non-regulated course:-

• Functions of the spine and why manual handling injuries occur.
• Types of injuries.
• Identifying hazards of top heavy bending.
• Applying the principles of a good base movement.
• Control strategies.
• Personal protective equipment.
